IN THE VIAL: Reminds me quite a bit of Selkie at first sniff: fresh, golden, sweet, with a clear, wild kind of tang to it. It’s significantly sharper, though, with a salty edge from the ambergris and seafoam, presumably.

OBATALA - Obatala’s ofrenda is soft, white and pure: milk, coconut meat, shea butter and cool, refreshing water.
IN THE IMP: Dill and cream sauce?? (like gyro sauce) I think the aquatic + milk might be going weird on me.

SÉANCE - A mysterious, enigmatic blend of dry, mellow rosewood, crushed rose leaf and the slightest touch of warm hazel.
Cool, dry, stately, with a lot of dark, fresh green from the rose leaf (neat, never seen rose LEAF in a blend before). Very reserved and yes, I would say, mysterious, but the greenness gives it a slightly wild feel as well.

XANTHE - Guava, orange peel, white pepper, spun sugar and apple blossom.
IN THE IMP: Pepper, light fruit, citrus
ON SKIN: Spicy, clean, fresh, a little musky. Not my usual thing - it has a bit of the edge of a commercial perfume, but only very faintly and briefly. Overall, really delicious, well-blended. Hard to describe it, but all of the elements ( Read more... )

BEAVER MOON ’07 - wild cherry with vanilla cream accord, and a hint of strawberry.

IN THE IMP: Tangy cherry essence, a little bit of cream-cheesy-type cream.

ASHLULTUM - Babylonian musk, vanilla tea, tonka, tobacco, coconut, hyssop, and lilac.

IN THE IMP: Sweet, creamy coconut, followed by sharply herbal hyssop.
ON SKIN: Hyssop leads, and is rather mothbally, blar. The coconut comes behind it as a pretty strange contrast - very light, nutty, sweet: coconut oil, not toasted flakes. Overall it comes off as ( Read more... )

MARCILLA - Blue lilac, lily of the valley, golden musk, beeswax, white ginger, bergamot, green tea, and nectarine.

IN THE VIAL: Lightly spicy ginger, bergamot, maybe a touch of the lilac.

QUEEN OF SHEBA - Her scent is a bounty of golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices.

IN THE VIAL: Sharply cherryish almonds and a touch of woody spices.
